The Five Element Theory is based on the idea that different forces combine in nature to create harmony and balance. The five elements are Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. In Chinese medicine, the Five Element Theory is an approach to understand imbalances within the body. When elements become unbalanced, symptoms and diseases start to develop.

In one of my favorite treatment modalities – BodyIntuitive (an East/West modality for balancing the body and mind) – there are RESETS for each of the five elements. By practicing these resets, focusing on one at a time, you will be able to help your body shift energies to restore balance and harmony between all of the elements.

Associated with autumn, this Reset boosts the Immune System and promotes healthy Letting Go, both physically and emotionally.

When repeated over several days (even a couple of weeks!), this practice can impact:

  • Immune resilience to colds and viruses (flu, RSV, Covid, etc.)
  • Skin conditions
  • Lung issues – coughs, asthma, shortness of breath
  • Colon (Large Intestine) issues – constipation, diarrhea, IBD, inflammation

The Reset:
1. With hands on Lungs and Large Intestine, BREATHE and FOCUS on
A. the Four Protective Shields: Wei Qi, Skin, Microbiome, Immune Cells
B.  Microbiome Repair & sludge removal

2. Stimulate these 3 acupoints
A. Lung 7 on the Left for PROTECTION
B. Stomach 40 on the Left for SLUDGE REMOVAL
C. Kidney 2 on the Right – THERMOSTAT – for cooling systemic heat & inflammation

REPEAT steps 1 & 2 three times

3. Emotional Sweep
A. Inhale as you get in touch with the Grief, Sorrow, and Disappointment you’ve been holding onto, sweeping head from right to left
B. Exhale as you RELEASE the emotion, sweeping your head from left to right

4.  ACTIVATE – by tapping acuzones at the head, heart, and gut

Do this Metal Element Reset daily (or up to 3x/day) for a week or longer to boost your immune system and let go of grief and disappointment. In particular, notice the effects it may have on your respiratory system, your skin, your digestive system, and your emotions.
