The Five Element Theory is based on the idea that different forces combine in nature to create harmony and balance. The five elements are Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. In Chinese medicine, the Five Element Theory is an approach to understand imbalances within the body. When elements become unbalanced, symptoms and diseases start to develop.
In one of my favorite treatment modalities – BodyIntuitive (an East/West modality for balancing the body and mind) – there are RESETS for each of the five elements. By practicing these resets, focusing on one at a time, you will be able to help your body shift energies to restore balance and harmony between all of the elements.
Repeat this reset daily (or as often as you wish) for a week or more, to relieve some of these Earth Element imbalances:
- Worry and overthinking
- Depletion and fatigue
- Digestive discomfort, bloating, gas, food sensitivities
- Brain fog
A. As with the other Elemental Resets, we repeat the first part of the exercise (A) three times:
- Focus mentally while holding our digestive organs and our thinking brain as we inhale and exhale;
- Stimulate three acupoints (CV6 below our navel and Stomach 36 four fingers below our kneecaps on both of our outer shins).
B. After that 3x repetition, we follow with an Emotional Sweep of our head from over our right shoulder to our left as we bring up something we are worrying about. We sweep our head back from left to right as we release the worry. Repeat again and again until the intensity of the worry and distress is diminished.
C. Finally, we activate the reset by breathing deeply while tapping three acu-zones (that have multiple acupoints in each zone):
- at the head-brain
- the heart-brain
- at the gut-brain
If you exercise this Reset repeatedly, you are likely to notice the grounding that it promotes in your physical as well as emotional body. Share with others who have digestive issues and/or caught in the emotions of despair, worry and anxiety.
